Registering the URI scheme?

As noted by the author and maintainer of curl, in a discussion about a
patch to add Gemini support to curl, the URI scheme gemini: is not
registered in the official registry
<https://www.iana.org/assignments/uri-schemes/uri-schemes.xml>.

The procedure is not too complex and is probably worth it. This
procedure is documented in RFC 7595 and, basically, you need to fill a
simple form, discuss it on an IETF mailing list and discuss with the
appointed expert.

I know about IETF procedures so, if someone more knowledgeable  about
Gemini wants to work with me, it could be done.
