Your very own email address is a good example of where tooling makes a difference.

It nicely reads as Côme Chilliet <come at chilliet.eu> -with accent circonflexe & all- but of course is ISO-IR-006 encoded under the hood as =?ISO-8859-1?Q?C=F4me?= Chilliet <come at chilliet.eu>.

I suspect you didn't type the encoding by hand, nor thing about it twice. It "just" works :)
