Yes, diversity is valuable, and an added value to Gemini as it makes it stand out from the commercial crowd; but the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) concerns itself with engineering issues, not cultural ones.

I don't foresee any engineering issues if we do our due diligence.

If, somehow, things get derailed, an informational RFC is as good as a standard-track for the intended purpose of formally describing the protocol.

Irrespectively,  the value added of the IETF is its process and formalism. 

It's up to us to raise to their standard.
